Kusumanjali Fellowship for Creative Writers

After starting the Kusumanjali Sahitya Samman for creative writers in 2011, the Kusumanjali Foundation started the Kusumanjali Fellowship Scheme for Creative Writers in 2013 under the able guidance of its Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Kusum Ansal. The following are the rules that govern the awarding of fellowships to creative writers in Hindi:

1. Name of the Fellowship

The Fellowship will be called "The Kusumanjali Fellowship for Creative Writers".

2. Subject of the Fellowship

A Fellowship will be awarded only to a creative writer in Hindi who wishes to write in any genre.

3. Number of Fellowships

Only one Fellowship will be started at this stage.

4. Duration of the Fellowship

The Fellowship may be awarded up to a maximum period of four months.

5. Eligibility

Hindi writers, who have already published work to their credit can apply. They will have to give an undertaking that they will submit one copy of the manuscript of the work produced as part of the Fellowship to Kusumanjali Foundation along with a digital version.

6. Age Limit

The applicants should be below 55 years of age at the time of submitting application. Relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases on merit.

7. Fellowship Amount

The Foundation will offer the Fellowship Amount of Rs. 20,000 per month for the complete Fellowship period.

8. Facilities

The writer selected for Fellowship will get a room in the Hostel of the Ansal University, Gurgaon and access to the Library of the University Centre for the Fellowship period for the writer?s convenience. Board and lodging will be free for the Fellowship period.

9. Language of the MS

Hindi will be the language of the manuscript.

10. Progress of Work

A short report on the progress of the work be submitted by the Fellow to the Foundation in the third month of the Fellowship. If the writer wishes to present his work for interaction with other writers, an evening of ?Meet the Writer? will also be arranged by the Foundation.

11. Payments

Fellowship payments will be paid every month to the scholar. It is expected that the last installment of the fellowship amount will be paid to the scholar only after he/she submits a copy of the complete manuscript, both in print and digital form, to the Foundation for archiving purposes.

12. Permission from the Parent Organisation

In case the applicant is selected for the Fellowship, he/she should submit a certificate from his/her Head of the Institution (Registrar of the University / Principal of a college) that the person if selected to receive Fellowship will be given sabbatical / special leave for carrying out work on the Fellowship.

13. Time-Out of Fellowship

In case of an emergency, if the Fellowship holder wishes to take a period of time out during the fellowship period, the following procedure will be followed:

  • Fellowship holder should make a formal request for time out to include reason and anticipated dates;
  • Payments will be stopped for duration of time out.
  • Fellowship holder notifies the Member-Secretary, Kusumanjali Foundation and the Vice-Chancellor, Ansal University the date of resumption of work on the fellowship at the Ansal University.

14. The fellowship 2015 awarded to Mrs. Saroj Vasishth. The fellowship 2014 was awarded to Dr. Urmila Shirish Sharma and
       the fellowship 2013 was awarded to Shri Dinesh Dwivedi.

15. Method of Application

Applicants are required to submit their detailed curriculum vitae which should include Name, Address, Date of Birth, Academic Qualifications with copies of certificates; Areas of Specialisations; Positions held, List of publications/papers, a synopsis of the work to be completed during the Fellowship and names of two referees with their addresses and telephone numbers.
