The Awards

Overview

The Kusumanjali Foundation has instituted "Kusumanjali Awards in Literature". Two awards will be given every year to creative works in the genres of literature comprising fiction, short story, poetry and drama. Any outstanding work in other genres will also be considered. The first award be given to a writer in Hindi and the second award be given to a writer in other Indian language listed in the 8th schedule to the Indian Constitution. The languages other than Hindi will be divided into four regions i.e. North, South, East and West. The second award will be given to a writer selected from one region each year. In addition to the merit of the work the author's contribution to literature in the language of the work will be given due consideration while evaluating the nomination. Selection of works for awards will be only those independent works of authors that are complete in a single volume or in move volumes. Incomplete works in multiple volumes will not be considered for the award. In 2018 Assamese language is chosen for the second award. Literary works published during 2013-2017(both years inclusive) will be eligible for nominations. An author who canvasses for the Samman will be debarred from the selection process.
